About the Word Counter

Counts words, characters, sentences, and paragraphs as you type, checks the text against the limits of App Store, Google Play, search, and social fields, and changes its case. Your draft stays in this browser until you clear it.

Every Setting

Counts
Words, characters with and without spaces, sentences, paragraphs, and lines, plus reading time at 238 words a minute and speaking time at 150. Emoji and accented letters count as one character each, as the stores count them. Select part of the text to see its counts in the status bar.
Limits
Each field’s count against its limit, with a bar that turns amber near the limit and red past it: App Store name, subtitle, keywords, promotional text, and description; Google Play title, short description, and full description; a page title and meta description; and an X post, YouTube title, Instagram caption, and LinkedIn post. The buttons in the rail narrow the list to one place. Select part of the text and the limits check just that part, so a whole listing can be pasted once and checked field by field.
Change Case
UPPERCASE and lowercase; Title Case, which keeps short words like and and of lowercase and leaves acronyms like API alone; Sentence case; and the code styles camelCase, PascalCase, snake_case, kebab-case, and CONSTANT_CASE. Each line is changed on its own, so a list stays a list. Undo steps back through the changes.
Top Words
The ten words used most, with how many times and their share of all words. Skip Common Words leaves out words like the and of.
Copy / Clear
Copy puts the text on the clipboard. Clear empties the box and the saved draft.

Common Questions

How long is the App Store subtitle?
30 characters, the same as the app name. Keywords get 100 and promotional text 170. Paste yours and the Limits list shows how close each one is.
Why does X count my post differently?
X counts every link as 23 characters and some scripts, like Chinese and Japanese, as two. The count here is the plain character count, so allow for that when a post has links.
