Mockstack is built by Disco Volante Labs, a small independent software studio. We make our own apps, which means we submit our own store listings, and screenshot day was reliably the worst day of every release.
Why this exists
Marketing screenshots sit in an awkward gap. Design tools can make them, but you rebuild the same layout for every size. Paid screenshot services do it well, but a subscription for something you touch four times a year never sat right. We wanted the middle: open a page, drop in screenshots, get every store size out, and close the tab.
So we built it, used it for our own releases, and put it online.
Why it's free
Mockstack is supported by the small "screenshot by mockstack.io" attribution on exports. No accounts, no trials, no paid tier gating the good parts. If it ever grows a paid tier, the tool you're using today stays free.
Where your screenshots go
Nowhere. The tool runs entirely in your browser: screenshots are composited on your device and never uploaded to us or anyone else. Work saves to your browser's local storage so a refresh doesn't eat it. The privacy policy spells it out formally, but the short version is that we couldn't look at your screenshots if we wanted to, the pipes don't exist.
Who writes the guides
The screenshot guides are written by Jonathan Rhodes, who builds and ships the apps at Disco Volante Labs, and therefore does the store submissions, collects the rejections, and re-looks-up the specs. They come from that, not from a content brief. We update them when Apple and Google move the goalposts.
