Image work without an upload
Converting a HEIC, pulling a still out of a video, or turning a screen recording into a GIF normally means finding a site that will accept the upload, waiting, and then trusting that the file was deleted. None of that applies here. The decode and the encode both happen in your browser.
That changes what is reasonable to put through them. A photo with location metadata, a recording of an internal tool, a document scan: those are fine to drop on the page, because the page is the only thing that sees them.
The photo editor runs its adjustments on the GPU, so curves and masks preview live rather than after a round trip. The GIF maker shows the exact frames that will export before you commit to the encode.
Common questions
How do I open a HEIC file on Windows?
Convert it to PNG or JPEG. The image converter does it in the browser without an upload, and handles a batch at once. The HEIC on Windows guide covers the alternatives.
Should I use GIF, WebP or APNG?
WebP is smaller and supports full color, so prefer it where support allows. GIF remains the safe choice for anything that has to render everywhere, including old email clients.
Which image formats can I convert between?
The converter reads HEIC, PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF, and BMP, and writes PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF, BMP, TIFF, or ICO, plus AVIF where the browser can. It resizes to exact dimensions, shrinks PNGs, and handles a whole batch in one pass while keeping the originals untouched.
